This is a blog all about me. And everything I do and everything I see. I got a feeling, got a bit of an inkling... as long as we're together, it'll be okay.

Sitting in the yard

I went to my parents place for a few days last week, spent most of the time sitting in the front yard with the dog. It was too hot out though... and now it's cold. Stupid weather! Make up your mind.

I've got a busy day planned for myself, lots of sewing and creating since it's my day off. I plan on staying the hell away from the computer... starting ... now.

Chicago bound!

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere. But my brother and my dad are! They're going to the Crossroads festival at the end of July. My brother's treating my pa, what a sweet guy. It's a pretty cool concert. I would have liked to go but Joda ain't got the scratch! Performers include Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Allison Kraus, BB King, Willie Nelson... and so many more! It's going to be amazing. I'm so excited for my dad, this is going to be the shiz for him. He'll be talking about this forever. I wish I could go too but this is Wade and Dad's time.

Snail mail spam

I really hate getting flyers and crap that I just throw out in the mail. So this time I've decided to do something about it. I'm sending that lovely prepaid envelope back to them with some goodies inside. Some paper from my other mail, some plastic bags, some cardboard from a drain plug, a slurpee lid, a mini eggs package, two tart tins, two batteries, and an old Tide to Go pen. I taped it all up in that envelope and will mail it soon. I'm not sure how prepaid envelopes work. I'm thinking they would pay for the ones that they get back... so this one is going to be pricey because it is heavy.

Marie and Sophia

I'm part way through watching Marie Antoinette and so far it's alright. As a history major I've always had a pet peeve about accents in period films (how they almost always have a British accent for whatever country the story takes place in) and this one is no different. Marie and Louis don't have accents at all which I prefer but then others have French or British. The costumes are divine, I'm in love with them all. The music is different but so far it's working for me. I know that the French people had some serious problems with how Marie was portrayed and booed the film at Cannes. Marie is one of my favourite historical figures. Her story is tragic but so interesting. I think that Sophia has done a good job. Now, if I could only fit myself into one of those dresses...

Movies I watch every time they're on

I don't know why, but there are a few movies that I feel compelled to watch every time they are on tv. Admittedly, some of them are not great movies but that's how it goes.

Dante's Peak (which I'm watching right know, inspiring this post)
Outbreak
Jaws 2 b/c you gotta see that shark just one more time
Evolution
Stand by Me
Never Been Kissed
Deep Impact

That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure there will be more as soon as I am suckered into watching yet another.

How can you not love after holiday sales!?!

If working at Michaels has taught me anything, it's that within two days of a holiday, the product goes on sale for 50%. Shortly after it will go on sale for more, like 70%. If there's too much left (like at Christmas), it will eventually go on for 90% off. And since I work there and get there early most days, I get first dibs. Plus all the Valentines stuff I got today (Hello Kitty stickers and cards, and Lindt chocolate!) were 70% off and were considered "clearance" so my discount applied! After Christmas I got a 2 foot tall prelit pink tinsel tree for only $2. Thing is that you have to wait and hope that what you want is still there... and if it isn't, you prolly didn't need it anyway.
